Meeting the needs of our community is at the heart of our organization. We work to meet basic human needs, as well as provide friendship and support, responding to requests and referrals for help from individuals, neighbors, doctors, school health providers, and social service agencies in our community.
Several of the most common jobs we do are: Cutting, splitting, stacking, and delivering free firewood, gardening, yard work, renovating substandard housing, weatherizing homes, installing free clotheslines, reading to people, providing community meals, and recycling goods and clothing.
Our free firewood program helps provide heat for families in seven local towns. We source our wood from local donations and tree fall.
Our Anti-Cabin Fever Dinners are a great way to get out of the house, break up the week, and see friends on long cold winter nights! Each Wednesday until the end of March, a local chef, many from the Woodstock, VT area’s best restaurants, prepares a delicious meal. The dinners are FUN, plus they subsidize costs for the Change the World Kids’ annual work trip to re-forest Bosque para Siempre, the migratory rain forest habitat in Costa Rica that they are helping to conserve and reforest, and that supports our Vermont migratory songbirds, as well as native rain forest species.
Dinner is at 6:00 in the North Universalist Chapel dining hall in Woodstock, VT, and the suggested donation is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Seating is limited, and reservations are highly recommended. If you need to cancel your reservation, please do it by noon on Wednesday. Your seats will be held until 6:00, when they may be released to walk-in diners. Please call (457-2622) or email the Change the World Kids (email@example.com). Join us, and warm your body and spirit with great food and company!
