iMatter Rally in South Royalton.

Margaret Gish of The Sharon Academy in South Royalton chapter organized an empowering iMatter Rally on Sunday, May 8 (Mother’s Day!)  The event featured an open mic, live music, and refreshments, and was an amazing platform for youth and community members to voice their thoughts on climate change.  Definitely exciting and inspiring!

The Westhampton, MA Change the World Kids traveled to Costa Rica last winter.

“This past fall/winter, we collaborated with the Trinity Yard School in Cape Three Points, Ghana, a rural fishing village.  We corresponded with founders Rory and Andy Jackson and organized a community-wide book drive. We donated over 300 books to their library, as well as boxes of school supplies. We are currently “working for free” in our communities, and start our very first yardwork project for a neighbor on April 23. We raised funds for the Heifer Project, worked with Safe Haven AIDS Awareness and Outreach, and helped out with the Annual Northampton Survival Center Post Office Food Drive, among many things. One of our active members even went to Iceland with Earth Watch to study climate change. We are very excited to continue our volunteer and environmental efforts!

Check out these photos of their Biology/Humanitarian Based trip to Costa Rica, where they stayed at the Bellbird Research Station (La Calandria), participated in ongoing migrant bird study, delivered school supplies to elementary and high schools in Santa Elena, and toured the Arenal volcano….”

The Little Rock, AK Chapter Juniors held a benefit dance performance for the bellbird and wrote “The Bellbird Rap.” Here are two verses:

The bellbirds left – we know it’s true

No passageway to pass on through.

The animals gone, flowers and trees,

Bringing our planet to its knees,

The bellbird rap,

Gonna get those bellbirds back!

So, what do we do? Do we stand on by?

Do we let all the bellbirds go on and die?

No, we plant more trees. We make a place.

We save this bird within this space.

The bellbird rap,

Gonna get those bellbirds back.

They recently held a fundraiser and sent $759.50 to help save the bellbirds. Wow!!!
